Essay on The Rangali Bihu Festival (150 words)
Name of the festival: The festival I like most is the Rangali Bihu. It is also called Bohag Bihu.
When it is held: The
Rangali Bihu begins on the last day of the Assamese year. It lasts for several
days.
How it is celebrated:
On the first day of their Bihu, the cows are bathed and they are tied with new
ropes. The second day is New Year’s Day. On that day everybody puts on new
clothes. People present ‘gamochas’(towels)
to one another. During the Bihu, many varieties of ‘pithas’(cakes) are prepared. During this Bihu, Bihu dance is held
and Bihu songs are sung.
Why I like it: I
like the Rangali Bihu festival most because it has something special. People
of all races, languages, and religions take part in this festival. It brings
people together. It brings the message of love, peace, and happiness for all
also.
Conclusion: The Bihu festival
speaks of the culture and civilization of the people of Assam. During this
festival, we bow down to our elders to show respect to them.
